Whether climate change or the energy crisis: the need for action on sustainability is more acute than ever. With an innovative and bold photovoltaic lighthouse project, the municipality of Hallbergmoos could become a model for the whole of Germany and achieve the energy transition in one fell swoop.
37 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year
The planned cooperation between Energieallianz Bayern, the owner of the planned photovoltaic area, and the company Höflinger Müller GmbH has made this possible. To the west of the Munich Airport Business Park, on an open space between the railroad line and the B 301, the two companies are planning a bee- and insect-friendly photovoltaic park covering 37 hectares. In addition to a service center and an electric charging station, the concept also includes a catering experience by the Höflinger Müller bakery and a natural pond. The electricity generated from the photovoltaics is to be used locally: It is enough for 10,000 households and businesses in Hallbergmoos. The municipality could thus become CO2-neutral in one fell swoop.
