Hallbergmoos Christmas market: A highlight on the first weekend of Advent

On the first weekend of Advent, the time had finally come again: after a two-year break due to coronavirus, the Hallbergmoos Christmas market opened its doors for a weekend. Between hot drinks and hearty food, visitors were able to have a really good time. Whether it was a Punch and Judy show for the children or performances by the gospel choir, who presented their Christmas songs, entertainment was guaranteed.

Harmony into the Christmas season

After a forced break of two years due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Hallbergmoos Christmas market has once again kicked off the festive Christmas season for everyone in Hallbergmoos. The Christmas market on Rathausplatz opened its doors on Saturday from 4 pm to 10 pm and on Sunday from 1 pm to 10 pm. With success: well over 2,000 visitors from Hallbergmoos and the surrounding area flock to the Advent market every year to warm up in cold temperatures with a hot mulled wine or children’s punch.

Stalls and booths at the Hallbergmoos Christmas market

There was a lot on offer again this year: With around 30 stands and stalls, many a person found a Christmas present or two for family and friends. From stalls with colorful, homemade Christmas decorations to handmade woodwork. The food and drink stalls have at least as much to offer: From children’s punch to mulled wine and Feuerzangenbowle, Käsespätzle with roasted onions, a warm bratwurst roll, tarte flambée with bacon and onions, to confectionery stalls. An absolute dream for Christmas market lovers. New this year: the beer sommelier. All kinds of different beers were on offer here. Perfect for anyone who hasn’t yet acquired a taste for mulled wine. A special feature: the South Tyrolean partner municipality of Predazzo was also represented with its specialties.

Every year anew – traditions of the Hallbergmoos Christmas market

Every year, there are performances at the Hallbergmoos Christmas market that are part of the tradition. These include the Punch and Judy show by Kasperl Fischer: every hour, the puppeteer enchants the local children with a performance. Another highlight: the performances by Oliver Schott and his gospel choir. The group had two performances on Sunday, during which they got the people of Hallbergmoos in the mood for the festive season with their best Christmas songs. The children from the “Kuhler Klang” music school also demonstrated their skills and performed at the Advent market. Santa Claus also paid a brief visit and surprised the children at the Hallbergmoos Christmas market with gifts.

A living tradition: Every year, Oliver Schott
and The Golden Gospel Choir perform at the Hallbergmoos Christmas market and get visitors in the mood for the contemplative Christmas season with their songs.
