The perfect wave for the 2019 business summer

Harald Reents, First Mayor of the municipality of Hallbergmoos, welcomed around 260 guests from business and politics to the traditional Business Summer on July 11. The annual reception is the municipality’s way of thanking new and long-established companies in Hallbergmoos and the Munich Airport Business Park (MABP). The main topic was the new surfing facility project at the MABP.

Planworx provided details on the planning: the surfing facility will consist of a large outdoor pool and a wave system that can generate waves between 30 centimetres and 2 meters high every ten seconds. This means that “The Wave” offers an experience that is rare in nature. While you have to wait for the right wave and the right moment in the sea, these can be reliably generated in a surfing facility. Star guest Michi Mohr, one of only three German big wave surfers, whose surfing career began on Munich’s Eisbach in the English Garden, told the audience about the fascination of the sport: “Today, more and more surfers are out and about worldwide, but the number of optimal surf spots in the world is limited, which is why they are often overcrowded. Surfing facilities, of which there are currently only two in the world, could provide a good alternative.” Additional leisure activities should also make the facility attractive for families.

In addition, the Rock Capital Group is constructing a hybrid building to the north of the surfing facility, which will include state-of-the-art offices, an incubator for start-ups, local amenities, restaurants and a conference zone integrated into the top floor. From there, there will be a direct view of “The Wave”.

Another highlight of the evening was the 30th anniversary of the Hallbergmoos in Action advertising association. “With the Hallbergmoos in Action advertising association, which is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, the municipality has a strong association of the local service industry,” says Reents. Fashion store manager Higgi Gruber initiated the founding of the interest group in 1989. With 72 members, it is now the largest and most active advertising association in the district of Freising. Under the motto “Personality creates trust”, the businesses promote customer proximity and a diverse economic and community life with campaigns such as the bike rally on May 1st or the Hallberg cheques.
