Sustainable mobility pays off: KfW’s new promotional program

Promoting instead of demanding: This is the motto of an active climate policy that has long recognized that the environmental challenges of the future cannot be met with bans and regulations alone. The ambitious targets formulated in the latest Climate Protection Act, which envisage a 65% reduction in emissions by 2030 compared to 1990, can only be achieved if everyone pulls together.

Sustainable mobility

Up to 50 million euros in low-interest promotional loans are available per project in the standard variant (program 268). In the individual variant (program 269), they can be made available from 15 million euros each. The decisive factor is that the sustainable mobility promotional loan can be used either for infrastructural measures for climate-friendly transport, the acquisition of a climate-friendly vehicle fleet or the sustainable digitalization of mobility.

Infrastructural measures

This includes not only the modernization of footpaths and cycle paths on company premises, but also parking facilities, electric charging stations and hydrogen filling stations that make it easier for employees to switch to greener means of transport.

Climate-friendly vehicle fleet

This includes investments in more climate-friendly freight transport and electrically powered commercial vehicles, as well as investments in climate-friendly vehicles for passenger transport and company fleets in particular. Whether fuel cell vehicles, electrically powered cars, plug-in hybrids or the “smaller” alternatives such as e-bikes, e-scooters or cargo bikes: almost any investment in an emissions-reduced future qualifies for the promotional loans.

Sustainable digitalization

KfW also rewards investments in the digital infrastructure behind the traffic turnaround with promotional loans. These primarily include networked solutions for a more efficient organization of mobility (parking management systems, control of traffic flows, etc.) as well as sustainable information and communication technologies.

Win-win for the climate

Not only the climate, environment and local authorities benefit from the measures initiated in this way, but also the companies themselves. Sustainable mobility concepts also mean less noise, better air and a better quality of life for a community like Hallbergmoos. The companies themselves also benefit in the short and long term. They increase their attractiveness as a future-oriented employer, while the energy savings can also help to reduce running costs. A real win-win situation. For this reason, the Hallbergmoos local authority’s business development department recommends that companies based here take a closer look at the opportunities offered by KfW development loans.
